UNEMPLOYMENT IS
\nRAMPANT IN RURAL INDIA<\/h1>\n

Even though Rural India
\ncontributes to about half of the

In 1970-71 to 2011-12, rural output
\nincreased almost seven times. However, the
\nemployment growth rate in rural areas declined.<\/h3>\n

These were the reasons the rural labour
\nforce moved out of agriculture.<\/h2>\n

Female workers, especially, stepped back from
\nagriculture work in large numbers.
\nThe rural labour force tried to make a shift away
\nfrom agriculture, but did not find employment in
\nthe non-farm sectors either.<\/h3>\n

\nbecause the rural workforce is not trained to cater
\nto jobs in these sectors.<\/h3>\n
